Caroline Raab: In my position as Production Manager of the Composites Division, I am currently responsible for 27 employees. On the one hand, I perform the associated management tasks in close cooperation with my employees and, on the other hand, I am responsible for the daily production activities as well as the design and development of improvements in existing structures and processes and for the development of solution strategies.
My goals are to promote positive and respectful relationships between employees, to maintain transparent and open communication, to strengthen team spirit and cohesion and to incorporate our entrepreneurial thinking and actions in order to implement our goals and strategies in the best possible way.
Caroline: I think my team has adjusted relatively well to me as a female manager, even though there were certainly reservations about this at the beginning. But in the meantime we have created a very trusting basis and I feel respected and accepted, just as I do with each of my employees.
Caroline: I have a lot of personal contact with my employees and we have very open and honest social interaction with each other - I and my employees really appreciate that my door is always open to them and I am there for them if they need me, even outside my personal presence at the company. My team can rely on me and I can rely on them - when they need me I am there for them and the same applies vice versa. They contribute their ideas independently which I gratefully accept and implement if possible. And they can thus see that they are being heard and are themselves involved in the change processes, which also improves their everyday working life and it drives and motivates them to contribute ideas and improvements together.
Caroline: The biggest challenge for women in leadership positions is simply to have the confidence to take on the challenge - I had doubts about whether I was up to it but these were dispelled after a very short time. So I can only advise every woman to just do it and not to be discouraged despite the occasional headwind.
Caroline: As I said before - trust yourselves more and do it!
Caroline: I am proud of my team that supports me in my work in the best possible way, my colleagues who always have an open ear and advice for me. And sometimes I am also a little proud of myself that I am who I am today and have not shied away from this path.
Caroline: I find my personal balance to my work by consciously taking time for myself to do sports, to keep in touch with my friends and family - since the beginning of the pandemic often only in virtual form, but these social contacts are indispensable for me - and to pursue my voluntary work for the Red Cross and the fire brigade, to which I dedicated myself decades ago and for which my heart beats ceaselessly.
